It's a Sunshine Day, Everybody's Groovin'

Warm spring weather has arrived, and the new Ferry Family™ took a short jaunt over to the Kamo River, Gregory's first outing except for last Thursday's mandated one-month checkup (all clear).

The Gene Simmons look. He sticks out his tongue a lot. Is that common?

Kyomments

I love the picture of him sticking his tongue out. What a great personality he is exhibiting at such an early age.

Great pics! The tongue thing? Definite signs of attitude at an early age.

Nils, my friend recommended your site since my boyfriend and I will be spending ~1 week as (hopefully not so tacky) tourists in Kyoto. It will be my second time visiting and I cannot wait! Anyway, this is my first time commenting and I wanted to tell you that not only do I love the entire site, I love these pictures of Gregory! He's absolutely adorable. The picture with his tongue sticking out is priceless. What an angel. Thanks for sharing your pictures with us!

Yes, there's a lot of possibilities to his brave attitude!
Gregory feels everything with his tongue. Maybe he just learned that outside his mouth is cold! Kawaii ne!
The way babies express their memories of people around them is imitating these people. Maybe he is just expressing to his mom how pleasant is when she nurses him! Maybe he is recognizing her as the nice girl who gives him delicious milk, then he shows his tongue when he sees her!
If someone is always sticking out his/her tongue to him, when Gregory sees this person he always shows his tongue, because this is the way he express his memories about this person. He is recognizing this person when he sticks out his tongue. So when you smile to your son and he smile back to you, he wants to say: ''Hey, I remember you, man! You're my daddy!''

Your baby is so charming! Congratulations!

nils-
my empirical evidence shows that....oh wait a minute, I have no real evidence. I knew I should have started a baby blog so I could have jotted down things like "stuck out his tongue for the first time". So I turn to the photos, and Kaika's first *recorded* sticking out of tongue was on June 13, or a few days shy of 3 months old. But who's to say when it actually happened the first time.
