Kyoto subway map

(188kb)Superimposed on a Kyoto satellite map, with other rail lines and major landmarks for reference. In November, a new section of the Tozai line will open, extending the service southeast to Rokujizo in Uji City.

I'm with Austin; nice map. What's the name of the little one-man train that goes up to the foot of Hieizan and/or up to Kurama?

It's Eizan Dentetsu (useless website warning), or Eiden for short. Goes right by my house. I should have included it for completeness, but I was only planning to put in a few train lines for reference (it's mainly a subway map), until I got carried away.

Ahh... brings back memories of when I was in school in Shikoku. We had a sister school in Otsu and when we went to visit would always take the Keihan line into Kyoto.

I have been there since, but my most vivid memories will always be of those younger days when we got off near the river, went to a bar where we knew they kept their beer stock under the seats of the back tabel (from which we would fill our bags and jackets) then go to the river to drink and crack stupid jokes with the Japanese kids. I learned a lot of Japanese there.
