Looking north over the Kamo (duck) River; just beyond that bridge (kamo oohashi) the river branches in a perfect "V" with the Kamo continuing up to the left and the Takano River to the right. In the middle is Shimogamo forest and Shimogamo Shrine, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. In the background are the Kitayama mountains. It's mountainous like this for more than a hundred kilometers all the way to the Japan Sea in northern Kyoto Prefecture.
I love how you've captured the layers of mountains going back. That's hard (for me, at least) to do.
The riverside to the left of the bridge from which you took the photo is a fun play are for kids. Just to the north are a bunch of concrete "mushrooms" that they can jump from one to another. Just to the south is a field are where they can run around and throw a ball. And just below and a bit to the north of the bridge are big stones that cross the river (as can be found up and down the river) that are fun for kids.
"The big stones"=== you mean the "turtles bridge" ? that's fun even for me ! (in summer)
