Kind of a Ray Davies "Waterloo Sunset", as long as gaze on Kyoto gardens in autumn I am in paradise feeling, but now it is time to turn attention to serious matters.

Watching the watchers at Enko-ji. Enko-ji Temple is just about as good as it gets, Japanese maple-wise. And, since it is way up here in our area, it has fewer tourists than the bigger name temples in Higashiyama-ku.
Actually, it's even closer to Rick "Son of Soy" Elizaga, but since he got married (Congratulations!) in traditional Japanese style last weekend, I'm hoping to see wedding pictures rather than momiji posted on his blog when he gets around to it.
Back in the '80s I had drawstring parachute pants in this pale yellow color. they weren't even my most offensive pair of parachute pants.
it was a beautiful, crisp, clear autumn day today, but got very chilly this evening.

Fresh details on the Torturer-In-Chief's schedule spotted by my wife: asahi.com
If the Kyoto map or guidebook you are thinking of buying has a Tourist Information Center in the Kyoto Tower building just north of Kyoto Station, that map or guidebook is out of date. There is an eyewear shop there now, as well as a new Starbucks. There are two tourist information facilities in the Kyoto Station building, however, on the second and ninth floors up the huge escalator on your left just before you exit the station facing Kyoto Tower.
As noted earlier, bush is scheduled to come to Kyoto Nov. 15-16 before a summit in Korea.
Although I strongly suspect that Bush himself won't be able to see me at all, I feel a strong civic urge to voice my objections upon this occasion, and so, judging by the news cylcle here and abroad, I have concluded that Wed. morning the 16th would be the best time to get media attention, but I am open to Tuesday evening if that is better for folks' work schedules. If anyone is interested in joining me, reply here and we can coordinate further, perhaps with a mtg at Tadg's some night this week.
In the comments on my previous entry (see link at left), a group may come on the evening of the 15th if you prefer that.
The unruly (bosa-bosa in Japanese) hair is really my fault. As my own hair takes its merciless leave, I am delighting in my son's ever shaggier locks, and have been delaying the next haircut. It has gotten curlier and curlier as it grows out, something that I suppose comes from my mother.
This baby is a toddler, a skittering runner, a go-getter, a toy car vroom-vroomer, an everyday joy to live and play with, an expert with remote controls.
Some favorite words he can say include: Mama, apple, banana, no, dog, cat, duck, moo,
Words he seems to have added in the past few days: banana, ocha (tea), DVD. "Banana" has intantly become one of his favorite words. "Ocha" and "DVD" are still unconfirmed, but he used them in the appropriate context.
